Food is the most important part when you think of a caterer. The caterer must have enough cooking experience to be flexible with recipe substitutions, plan menus, and safely prepare and transport large amounts of food.

After all, a satisfied customer is the best recommendation and word-of-mouth is the most effective advertising out there.

Flexibility is crucial when it come to catering. Recipes may need to be altered for food allergies and religious dietary requirement or even personal preference. A creative and adaptable caterer will be able to cope with these changes.

 

5.    Leadership

Make sure your caterer is good at managing their staff of cooks, servers, cleaners etc. In addition, the staff should be aware of safety regulations as well.

A good caterer is motivated and proactive. It is also important for the caterers’ staff to be motivated as well.

A caterer must be able to balance the busy and slow times of the year. A good caterer is able to provide their client with a smooth final payment with no issues. Also, the caterer should keep the client aware of any additional costs.

The administrative tasks of a caterer are managing their employees well, ordering food, pricing services fairly and organizing schedules and budgets.

 

9.    Marketing

A good caterer will market themselves with florists, venue organizers, and event planners. Make sure your caterer has a good network of clients.

 

10. Attention to Detail

A caterer should be involved in some décor, table arrangements or food presentation.
