ANNOUNCING KEYNOTE SPEAKER
The AFBA is fortunate to announce Mark Edelson, attorney and member of the Maryland House of Representatives, as this year’s Keynote Speaker. Join us over lunch for a fireside chat with this distinguished attorney.
Born in Pretoria, South Africa, Mark’s family moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1999. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in philosophy and criminal justice from Georgia State University in 2007. In 2010, he earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland School of Law and was admitted to the Maryland Bar that same year. He was later admitted to the District of Columbia Bar in 2011 and the Florida Bar in 2012.
Professionally, Edelson began his legal career at Goldman & Goldman, P.A., where he eventually led the firm’s litigation division. Since 2017, he has been a partner at the law firm of Silverman, Thompson, Slutkin, White, focusing on business and commercial litigation, including financial, real estate, and fiduciary disputes. He has for many years represented small-business financing clients, advocting for them in multiple states. Additionally, Edelson serves as an adjunct professor at Goucher College, teaching a course in Law and Society.
Mark has been actively involved in the Baltimore community. He served as president of the Canton Community Association from 2018 to 2023 and as vice-chair of the Baltimore City Democratic State Central Committee. He has also served on the boards of directors for The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore and the Baltimore Jewish Council.
In 2022, Mark successfully ran for the Maryland House of Delegates in District 46 and is currently a member of the House Appropriations Committee. He is also a member of the Maryland Legislative Jewish Caucus and the Maryland Legislative Latino Caucus.
